About Me

My writing career began at age 10 with a letter to Mad Magazine. When I opened issue No. 299 (Dec. 1990), I was amazed to see my letter in print -- never mind that it was filed under the heading "Moron Mail."

I picked up the thread 15 years later with an expat magazine article about a Korean jazz legend and have been contributing writing and photography to various publications ever since.

Aside from writing, my main obsessions are mountains, running ... and mountain running. I'm continually fueled by my wife's delicious Korean home-cooking and inspired by my 7-year-old son's precocious mind.
